341 - Bear Tooth Pass

A long, but great day!  Started the day by riding Bear Tooth Pass with Suzann and Pat.  Talk about the majesty of our earth!  WOW.  Absolutely stunning views.  At the top, we were above the snow line, it had to have been in the 30's at 10, 900 feet.  Brrr.  (And yes, some of these photos were taken while riding Mother's bike.)

Motor Maids' parade this afternoon.  I videoed and put the still camera on burst.  Will have a lot to compile when I get home, but that's always the way.

340 - Buffalo Bill Cody

We had planned to ride today, but temps in the 40's with on and off rain led to a change of plans. So, a little shopping in the morning, then a tour of the Buffalo Bill Historic Center.  What a well done museum.  Multiple sections, each on something different - Buffalo Bill (of course), guns, Plains Indians, wildlife, etc.  It would take a couple of days to go through it if you read everything; definately a full day if you just skimmed.  We spent a 1/2 day and didn't go in some of the areas.

Some of my fav pics.

339 - Cowboy Up!

Today was to be our day to go horseback riding.  I was supposed to have reserved us an early morning, half day ride, but the insanity of last week meant it didn't get done.  So, we called the place just outside of Yellowstone, and we could take the 2 hour noon ride.  Yea!

After a big breakfast, we headed into Yellowstone to kill time until our ride.  Today was absolutely beautiful. Blue skies, white fluffy clouds, comfortable temps.  The temps did drop down to 49 at the top of whatever pass we went through in Yellowstone, but climbed back into the 50's otherwise.  The big lake had white caps - the wind was up, and it was quite chilly.

The horseback ride itself was WONDERFUL!  (We had a guide on his first day who just wouldn't shut up which was annoying.)  My horse, Tenderfoot, was the most stubborn horse.  I could handle him until we got to this one place on the route.  Evidently, that is where the hour tour turns to go back to the coral, and Tenderfoot turned and simply would not move, no matter how hard I kicked or pulled.  So, the mouthy guide had to come and grab the lead rope and pull Tenderfoot up the mountain.  I wasn't complaining - now I didn't have to work, and Motor Mouth had to work.  We stopped for a while at the top, about 8800 feet, for pictures.  When we started back down, Suzann and I made sure to get to the front, away from Motor Mouth.  The ride down was great.  We never came out of our sweatshirts the whole ride!

Dinner was great in the hotel bar ...  I saw Pat in the parking lot; she joined us and it was great catching up with her.  Other Motor Maids came in and before we left, you couldn't hear yourself think there was so much chatter!

Low tonight of 46.  These temps are a little piece of heaven!

Cowboy up!

338 - Cody, WY!!!

This morning, I met Samantha for a quick tour of the air force base (gorgeous), then breakfast before heading north towards Cody.  Our time together didn't turn out the way either of us hoped, but I'll be coming back through on Friday, so we can do some sightseeing.

It was in the low 50's and raining during most of the interstate driving.  When I got off I-25 to then take state roads the rest of the way, the rain ceased and the clouds started to break up. There wasn't much traffic, and the land was flat-ish until I got to Wind River Canyon.

Wind River Canyon is on SR 20, and is simply beautiful.  I took a lot of pictures out the car windows with hopes that some of them would come out.  The cool thing - I get to go back through it on Friday.

Am safely here in Cody.  Greeted with lots of hugs from friends from across North America.  It's going to be a fun week.

Here's some of the canyon pictures.

337 - Angel Who Left Her Wings At Home

I don't often make big mistakes, but early this morning, I found out I made a HUGE one.  I thought my flight was leaving at 7:25am.  I get to the airport at 6am to find out that I booked a 7:25PM flight.  Shit.  The guy at the baggage checkin told me to see if one of the ticket agents could get me on an earlier flight.  She actually managed to get me on flights that matched when I thought I was flying into Denver.  My flight was only 30 minutes later than what I thought I booked.  I told her she was an angel who left her wings at home.

2nd big positive of the day was to finally see Samantha!!!  Even though I was exhausted and doped up on Benadryl, it was so good to just sit and talk to her.  What a gem of a young lady!

Speaking of exhaustion, it's time to try to get some rest.

336 - #3 Car Wins!

A couple of wretched days turned into a wretched week.  I had the second end of month to do tonight, as well as clean the house and pack for vacation.  Because of all of this, I missed a party that I really, really, really wanted to go to, which put me in a pissy mood.  I had the Nationwide race on while I was racing around the house, but with about 10 laps to go, I gave myself permission to sit down and watch the end of the race.  Am really glad that I did.

Dale Jr. was driving the #3 Wrangler Car, probably the last time we'd see the #3 car on the track.  That paint scheme, he says, was his favorite of his dad's cars.  He was leading when I sat down to watch the end, there was a caution but he stayed out.  Without fresh tires, he still stayed in front and won the race.  As he came back around the track after taking the checkered flag, everyone in the stands was holding up 3 fingers.

As Tony Eury Jr. said after the race, "We lost everything at this track."  It was good to get some of it back.

It will be 10 years in February since we lost Dale Earnhardt, but he is never gone to the race fans.

335 - Baby Kisses

Another wretched day at work; this one worse than yesterday. And long too, at least 12 hours. Ug. I did, however, take a break to run over to Booch's to borrow a suitcase for my Wyoming trip. Hadn't seen T-ster in a while ... what a JOY! He was all laughter and energy. As you see in the pic, the suitcase was just the right size for him. Later, he put some of his toys in it so I would have company in Wyoming. The cutest thing, though, was saying goodbye. He came running over for a hug and kiss goodbye. I found out that I was very special because he gave me a 2nd kiss.

What an awesome way to lift my spirits out of the gutter ... baby kisses!
