160 - No Title

Am fighting a stupid head cold.  And yes, the cold is stupid.  If it were smarter, it would have infected someone else.  Why?  Because it doesn't stop me in my tracks.  I might feel icky, but since I have the capcity to work from home, my job doesn't suffer and I can still take a nap when needed.  It does keep me, however, from visiting with some peeps I want to visit with as I don't want to infect them.  But that also is evidence of the cold's stupidity - it's not going to get spread from me, at least not today.  Do I want this cold?  Hell no!  But it was still stupid of it to attack me.

Other positives today:
Lady Vols start SEC play and they are televised against South Carolina.  They're ranked #4.  I haven't seen everyone play, but Coach says they're over-rated.  Considering her resume, I'll take her word for it.  With 7 more weeks before post-season, hopefully they'll continue to improve and make a good showing in the tournament.

BCS Championship game tonight.  ROLL TIDE!!!  Need I say more?  (Sorry Michael).  :-)

Fire in the fireplace.  Slow cooked roast for dinner.  Kids curled up on the couch with me.  This cold be damned!

159 - Like Coming Home

A year and a half ago, I was Robert Anne in Nunsense.  The show was so much fun, not just because of the show itself, but because I got to meet and work with Judy, Patty and Jane.  From the first, I felt like I'd known them all my life; they're just that comfortable to be around.  And since then, whenever I'd see them I was greeted with a cheer of "Susan!!!" and a huge hug.  Tonight, I started my tap class in Neptune Beach.  Not only are Mags and Gretta in the class (we did the last two shows together), but Jane is teaching and Judy and Patty were there afterwards as their Sassy Tappers rehearsal is after our class.

Nunsense showed me that I could love tapping, but it also introduced me to friends I love.  I know I smiled all the way home tonight just because I got to spend a little time with Judy, Jane and Patty.  It's hard to explain, but it's pretty awesome.  Oh, and yes, I enjoyed the tap class too ... if they only didn't have that mirror!

158 - Long Day

Another long day, and it's not over.  I'm working on my blog while the scripts are crunching data for the second time for open/written business reports.  After the data crunched and I ran some macros, I discovered that I didn't have the totals from last month in the data.  DAMN!  Previously when this would happen, I'd have to manually enter 40+ offices of data into the system because the totals had been overwritten with the current month's data.  A positive: I had run these on a different server last month and low and behold, the totals were in that table.  Thanking the Universe that all I had to do was import and append.

Follow-up from last night's blog - I actually finished one of the reports for the managers to pull at their leisure.  I haven't released it to them yet as I need to get another one done and I'm currently stumped on how to program the filter.  It will come to me, probably in the middle of the night.

Follow-up on 121 - Duct Tape - A friend of mine who works in our Watson office in Wekiva sent me a "duct tape rose."  Her son has gotten into duct tape art, and this is absolutely fabulous.  It will be on my desk beside the rose I caught during the curtain call of "Chicago".

The first quarter of the year is typically the slowest in real estate, but for me it's the busiest.  Year end processing; survey data that our controller needs; 1099 data checks/audits; property depreciation tax data.  But tomorrow is a new day and month end will be behind me.

I played a little bit w/ my new digital video camera, which also takes stills.  It has 60x zoom and 2000x digital zoom.  For far away zooming, I know I need a tripod, and it only took the pics at 640x480 (don't know if I can adjust that), but it will be fun.  Haven't tried the video part yet.  The pic of Oliver was taken from about 35 feet away.  Pretty cool, huh?!

Wishing everyone a warm night!

157 - Almost There

Another long day (after a long Sunday), but productive.  The manager/brokers have received the reports needed to do agent reviews.  I tried very hard to program this so that it would benefit us down the road and not bog down the system when trying to pull large amounts of data.  Hopefully, that was achieved.  Still have a lot of work ahead, but the pressure of getting this information into their hands is done!

To top it off, after pulling the 10+ hour day, I still managed to get a little bit of stuff done at home.  Guess it's that New Year's focus.

TTFN!

LOLCat in honor of Shekinna Stricklen's triple-double last night when the Lady Vols beat Oklahoma.  17 points; 13 rebounds; 12 assists.  It's only the 2nd time in Lady Vol history that a player has had a triple-double!  WOOT!

156 - Workin On Sunday

Yes, it's Sunday, and yes, I've worked almost non-stop since 9 this morning.  (This is after working 4 to 6 hours each of the past two days as well.)  The postitive:  I have the Commissions Department ready to start checking and processing commissions tomorrow morning.  However, I was not able to complete what needed to be done for our branch managers, so their stuff will be a day or so late.  I had planned to work this evening until it was completed, but my stomach is simply not cooperating.  I took my meds today, and then took a second round (as the doctor advised when it's a bad day), but it just isn't cutting it.

Am trying very hard too look at the positive in that the Commissions Dept is ready.  They would have a very hard time getting their work done tomorrow morning if I hadn't finished.  So, I'm going to wrap myself back up in a blanket and hang onto that postive.

TTFN!

This pic - the program that calculates and processes transactions and agent's commissions at work is called "ATM."  This LOLCat was just too good to be true!

155 - Chattin'

Today's positive - a long phone chat with my best friend.  She has a heart of gold, and I'm very grateful for her.  And I'm so glad she's feeling better.
